
What it imitates
A chironomid pupa rising slowly through the water.
When to fish it
Stillwaters from spring to autumn, fished slow and deep under a bung or on a washing line.
Materials
- Black thread
- Fine silver wire
- Orange thread or Glo-Brite for cheeks
- UV resin or clear varnish
Steps

Run smooth thread down round the bend and back, keeping the body very slim.

Tie in fine silver wire and rib it forward in even open turns.

Add two tiny orange cheeks either side of the head.
- 4
Whip finish and coat the whole body in a thin layer of UV resin for that pupa shine.
