What it imitates

A midge (buzzer) pupa hanging just under the surface.

When to fish it

All year, on rivers and stillwaters. Deadly under an indicator when nothing is showing.

Materials

  • Black 8/0 thread
  • Fine silver wire
  • 2.5mm silver or copper bead

Steps

  1. 1

    Slide the bead on small hole first and start the thread behind it.

  2. 2

    Catch in the silver wire at the head and run the thread down to the bend.

  3. 3

    Wind the thread back to the bead in smooth touching turns for a slim body.

  4. 4

    Rib the wire forward in five or six open turns and helicopter it off.

  5. 5

    Build a small thread collar behind the bead, whip finish, done.
