Three steps

Haul on the back cast and let your line hand drift back up as the line unrolls.

Haul again on the forward stroke, timed exactly with the forward stop.

Release the shooting line right after the second haul and let it fly.
Common mistake
Hauling and casting out of sync, so the two moves cancel out.
Tip
Practise on grass saying 'up-down, up-down' out loud until the rhythm sticks.
