Three steps

Hold the line firmly in your line hand near the reel.

As you make the back cast, give a short sharp pull down with that hand.

Drift your line hand back up towards the reel as the line straightens behind you.
Common mistake
A long slow pull instead of a short snap, which adds nothing.
Tip
The haul is about 30cm and lasts a moment — time it with the rod stop.
