Three steps
- 1
Start with the rod tip low and about 8 metres of line straight out in front of you.
- 2
Lift smoothly and stop the rod crisply at around 1 o'clock — then pause while the line straightens behind.
- 3
Come forward and stop just as crisply at 10 o'clock, letting the loop roll out before lowering the tip.
Common mistake
Waving the rod like a wand with no stop, so the line collapses in a pile.
Tip
It's the stop that makes the loop, not the power. Think 'flick, freeze'.
